In Ny Toldbodgade we saw the shooting holes from the match of Amalienborg on 19 September 1944 and the set commemorative plaque for the struggles between the Germans and the Danish police force. (See the chart below). The plate and shot holes are pictured on the top of this page with today's travel guide Martin Cleeman Rasmussen. Below you can see the plate and the shot holes a little closer and a sketch of the game. The cannon sprouts originate from a German cannonboat, moored just by Larsen Kaj.
The latter is one of the many exaggerations of occupation history. After a brief fire fight, orders from Amalienborg were made to stop the match.
The sketch shows the area between Amalienborg and Copenhagen harbor.
Mudguard in the wall originates from the cannon on a German cannonboat (look to the right of the sketch). The dotted lines show the gun's shooting directions. The top dash line shows the projectiles that entered the house facade above.
A modest exaggeration is the sentence that 'Danish police were arrested and sent in German KZ camp on September 19, 1944'.
Only 2000 of Denmark's 5-6000 man-made police forces were arrested and sent to Buchenwalde KZ camp in Germany, where several police officers died.
